Coolant, chips, and the odd collision.

The probe is stainless steel and sealed to IP65: coolant emulsion, cutting oil, swarf and shop dust stay outside it, and the seal is what holds the kinematic seat clean enough to repeat. The cable to the receiver can be run inside a steel conduit, so a hot chip landing across it does not end the shift.

It has already told the control.

Touch follows the stylus by two milliseconds, or three on the first deflection, while the probe comes out of standby. So you can come in at rapid, probe at up to 2 m/min and take the next point without waiting for anything to settle, on a long stylus as readily as a short one.

TP1-IR Touch Probe – receiver

It speaks your machine’s language.

One switch on the receiver board sets the output the way your control expects it: normally open or normally closed, PNP, NPN or push-pull. Touch and Ready leave on a 5 m cable, on anything from 5 to 24 VDC, so Siemens, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Haas, Mitsubishi, Mach3 and LinuxCNC are all three sliders and a terminal block away.

The signal leaves the probe as 950 nm infrared and reaches the receiver up to 5 m away, on direct line of sight. No cable to route down the spindle, nothing to snag in a tool change, nothing to replace when it is cut.

The output is two choices: how it rests, and how it drives. Both are made on one switch on the receiver, with the legend printed beside it. No control-specific variant to order, nothing to solder, and nothing that has to be right before the probe ships.

P1 matches the infrared duty cycle to the distance you work at. P2 sets how long the probe stays awake before it sleeps. Both are entered by touching the stylus and read back by the LED on the probe. No software, no cable, nothing to connect.

Put it in the spindle.

The TP1-IR ships as a probe. An M4 stylus, the CS16 clamping shank and the BP58 base plate are ordered alongside it. Order them together and the assembly arrives centred, ready for the machine.
